Personal Lines Account Manager

Summary of Job: The Personal Lines Consultant will have a strong understanding of all personal insurance coverages, carriers, and ratings to provide heroic support to all clients. This position reports to the department supervisor in the Personal Lines department. Extensive training, mentoring and support from an experience team of consultants will be provided.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Would be responsible for handling a book of business which includes conducting a review analysis for clients and providing coverage recommendations. Key roles include but are not limited to:

  • Onboarding new customers while building and maintaining ongoing relationships
  • Conduct presentations over the phone
  • Gather information from customers, assess their insurance needs and risk profile
  • Foresee customers' insurance needs, such as policy renewals or amending existing policies
  • Customize insurance programs to suit individual customers, often covering a variety of risks
  • Explain features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans
  • Use of advanced solutions in a consultative service environment
  • Calculate insurance premiums or awards / compute financial data
  • Arrange specialized types of insurance coverage in complex cases
  • Complete and follow-up on administrative tasks such as managing and processing paperwork, correspondence, keeping detailed records, ensure that policy requirements are fulfilled including the completion of appropriate forms
  • Follow contract, property, and insurance laws
  • Use computers to enter and access or retrieve data
  • Advise clients on risk management and claims processing
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

  • Property & Casualty license required
  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in a business discipline (Marketing / Finance Accounting) preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years successful full-time work experience in insurance sales / service in the insurance industry or combination of high end sales experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite & The Agency Management system (TAM)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with other consultants in a professional business environment
  • Provide problem solving and support when needed
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding the complex financial situations and lifestyles of customers
  • Multiline insurance brokerage experience highly desirable
  • Experience with software for the purpose of submitting applications and claims processing
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Must have positive attitude, professionalism and emotional intelligence (ability to listen and empathize)
  • Must be ambitious, self-motivated, and have a high energy level
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Technical knowledge related to the underwriting, claims processes, as well as, the tax and legal aspects of the products sold and potential implications for their clients
