The Data & AI Analyst plays a key role in supporting Henderson Brothers’ data, reporting, and emerging AI initiatives by working closely with business units to understand needs, develop analytics solutions, and contribute to the organization’s evolving data and AI capabilities. The role focuses on strengthening day‑to‑day data workflows, improving reporting and integrations, and building the foundational skills needed for future growth in AI‑driven operations.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties
Business Engagement & Requirements
- Meet with business units to understand workflows, challenges, and objectives.
- Ask probing questions to clarify needs and translate them into actionable requirements.
- Serve as the first point of contact for reporting, analytics, and data workflow requests.
- Present solutions and updates clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Develop and optimize Power BI reports, semantic models, KPIs, and dashboards.
- Maintain reporting datasets and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability.
- Support the definition of reporting standards and uniform data structures.
- Support data governance activities by documenting key data elements, maintaining data definitions, and helping map data ownership across systems.
- Monitor and report on data quality by producing completeness/accuracy checks, identifying gaps, and partnering with business units to improve upstream data entry practices.
- Promote good data stewardship by educating staff on the importance of accurate data and supporting standards that ensure reliable reporting and AI‑ready datasets.
- Work with Google BigQuery datasets, including interpreting, validating, and building upon this data to support reporting, analytics, and AI needs.
- Assist with ETL/ELT processes including ingestion, transformation, and validation.
- Support Azure SQL databases, SSIS packages (legacy), and future migration to modern ETL platforms.
- Assist with API‑based data integrations using REST/JSON.
- Support Power Automate workflows as needed.
- Troubleshoot data and integration issues across systems.
- Prepare structured and complete datasets for use in Microsoft Copilot.
- Assist with prompt templates, Copilot Studio agents, and departmental AI workflows.
- Help business users adopt AI‑enabled tools and processes.
- Work closely with the Applications Manager and Applications Developer on cross‑department initiatives.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow through with minimal supervision.
- Document workflows, data definitions, and processes for long‑term scalability.
Position-specific Competencies
- Write and run SQL queries for data analysis, inquiry and extraction.
- Expert proficiency with data visualization tools. Preference given to Microsoft PowerBI.
- Ability to clean, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to derive actionable insights.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Maintains a high standard of accuracy in all reports and analyses, verifying results against business rules and source data.
- Help to define, implement and evolve the reporting environment, identify key data sources and work toward automation of operational reports to create broad visibility across the organization.
- The analyst will work in a highly collaborative approach, managing multiple competing priorities and assignments.
- Cultivate data-driven insights that help support exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities, and be a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within the CRM, PowerBI and other systems.
- Train and mentor consumers of analytics output.
- Knowledge of insurance industry, terms and operational processes is preferred.

Qualifications
- 2- or 4-year degree in a relevant field such as Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
- 3–4 years of experience in a data analytics, business systems, or similar technical role supporting reporting, data operations, or cloud-based analytics.
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases and SQL (e.g., SQL Server, Azure SQL) with familiarity in data modeling and best practices for data engineering.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to accuracy, clarity, and detail.
- Inquisitive, eager to learn, and proactive in identifying solutions and expanding technical skills
- Excellent customer service mindset with the ability to support and communicate effectively with business end‑users.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment or independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly engage with business users and leadership.
Work Environment
- Punctuality, attendance, and availability are important to provide system reliability and to be available for questions/issues related to the company’s technology.
- With proper approval, remote work will be available.
- Hybrid work environment with traditional business hours is customary (e.g. between 8:30 AM and 4:45 PM).
- Maintenance, upgrades, application releases and other work during non-traditional business hours is required but does not occur with high frequency.
